What is Speech Therapy?

Speech therapy helps individuals regain or develop speech and communication skills through the use of articulation therapy, language intervention, and other practices depending on the type of speech or language disorder. People who have suffered a stroke, brain injury, or other medical conditions and have experienced diminished ability to understand or express themselves verbally can benefit from speech therapy.

Speech Therapy at Post Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

At Post, we provide speech therapy services to residents who have aphasia as a result of a stroke, as well as other speech challenges resulting from traumatic brain injuries or other medical conditions. These include:

• Breathing exercises
• Tongue strengthening exercises
• Articulation
• Practice constructing and understanding sentences
• Identifying and naming pictures
